How to Lower Electric Bills Through Solar Energy

How to Lower Electric Bills Through Solar Energy -- powered by eHow.com

I really like this video, because I'm interested in topics that deal on electricity.

Nowdays, people need to care more about the environment.

I'm studying electronic engineering, and I think as a future engineer we should learn more about green ideas to help in our field to have a better world.

Solar energy can help to lower electric bills because the solar power supplements the electric power in the house to make the meter literally run backwards. You can see here the savings build up over time with helpful tips from alternative energy specialists.

Free Air

Our final evaluation is a project, for this, we decided to do a research and a proposal regarding air pollution.
Air pollution is one of the biggest enviroment issues nowadays, industrial activity has made it clear that people can make a huge damage to the planet.
Over the past century we have heavily exploited natural resources and we have to somehow compensate for it.
By doing this project we've become more aware of this issue, air is a very important element for all living beings and it's contamination can have serious consequences. We need to put a halt on this, by making people more aware of this and creating plans to reduce smoke emissions.

Someone I consider a role model is Bill Gates.
He became the founder of microsoft and the richest man in the world from the only bases of pure knowledge, skills and above all, love for what he does. Gates is one of the best-known entrepreneurs of the personal computer revolution.

Ted talks

TED talks are a series of lectures held anually about a great variety of subjects, The lectures, also called TED Talks, cover a broad set of topics including science, arts and design, politics, education, culture, business, global issues, technology and development, and entertainment. Speakers have included such people as former U.S. President Bill Clinton, Nobel laureates James D. Watson, Murray Gell-Mann, and Al Gore, Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates, Google co-founders Sergey Brin and Larry Page, and Billy Graham.

Second Life

I recently created an account on second life, my avatar's name is Rick Peliatropis, you can see him on the right's picture.
My first experience with the software was fun, I was just thrown into some kind of beginners island with a lot of help icons everywhere, so I just started to walk around and talk to some people, everyone in that island was a beginner like me so I couldn't get much help on how to handle myself in this world.
After a few minutes walking, running and flying around the island, I managed to teleport to a different location, it was some kind of beach house completely crowded, the software became really slow and so I logged out of second life.

The Golden Arrow

The Golden Arrow is a term used to define what has become a way of life to most American citizens. At first sight, it consist on the shopping activity, on how American people shop because of a trend, because of how easy it is to get stuff for a really cheap price, but this is only a part of it. By looking at the big picture, the Golden Arrow is about consumerism, it is about keeping the cycle of manufacturing low quality products, make people buy it, dispose of it and then buy again, the main goal of this system is to keep people shopping and shopping by different means and to keep fabricating and fabricating products to sell.

Electronic Engineering

Here's some information I researched about my career.
Electronics is the technology associated with electronic circuits and systems, and uses components such as capacitors, diodes, resistors and transistors.
Electronics engineers research, design, develop, test and produce precision components and systems, developing the way electricity is used to control equipment. The work is usually carried out in cross-functional project teams, with colleagues in electronics and other branches of engineering.
Electronics touches on almost all areas of human activity, so its applications are diverse. They include acoustics, defence, medical instruments, mobile phones, nanotechnology, radio and satellite communication and robotics. Subfields of electronics engineering include control engineering, instrumentation, signal processing and telecommunications engineering.
In Venezuela, electronic engineers are mainly in charge of the maintenance and operation of industrial machinery, making sure everything is working fine according to established parameters from the electronic point of view.

Technology:
1 a: the practical application of knowledge especially in a particular area : engineering 2 b: a capability given by the practical application of knowledge
2: a manner of accomplishing a task especially using technical processes, methods, or knowledge
3: the specialized aspects of a particular field of endeavor

Electricity:
1 a: a fundamental form of energy observable in positive and negative forms that occurs naturally (as in lightning) or is produced (as in a generator) and that is expressed in terms of the movement and interaction of electrons b: electric current or power
2: a science that deals with the phenomena and laws of electricity
3: keen contagious excitement

Green Engineering

Green Engineering is something new professionals should take into account. It is important in order to make and design products that are environmentally friendly, specially in this time of environmental crisis. IBM gives a big example of the efficiency of these techniques, they've been creating equipments with less and less power consumption, which equates to less greenhouse gas emissions and more economic devices, and all of these benefits without losing any computing capacity. But this is only 2% of the total power consumption, the information technology, but what about the rest, people are already starting to take measures in things like transport which is a big source of pollution, they are designing new souces of energy besides gas fuel such as electricity and hydrogen which are much less threatening to the environment. By taking some initiatives regarding green engineering people could get benefits in the finantial area by saving money with these green low power devices, and would avoid any problem regarding possible environmental regulatory measures from authorities, besides it would benefit the planet by reducing your greenhouse gas emissions and reducing your power demand.

About me

Hi there, my name is Ricardo Schilling, I'm a 20 years old engineering student from Maracaibo, Venezuela. I'm a rather quiet guy who enjoys being home reading or watching anything I find interesting over the internet, I also like jogging, eating, doing small electronic projects every once and then, playing online games, and not so often, reading a book. The things I don't like are crowded places and horrible music (vallenato, reggaeton and anything alike).
I think English is a very important thing to learn nowadays, in a heavily globalized world, where English is spoken almost everywhere you go, it is a very useful skill to have.
